Dr. Hadjigeorgiou is a neurosurgeon with a special interest in endoscopic skull base surgery, neuro-oncology and minimally invasive spinal surgery. He has subspecialized in some of the most prestigious departments in the USA (Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital & New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine) and Europe (University Hospital of Copenhagen & Royal National Orthopedic Hospital of London). He also served for several years as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in the University Hospital of Munich.

 

Dr. Hadjigeorgiou received his medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and his PhD with honors from the University of Thessaly. His PhD is entitled “Genetic association studies in patients with traumatic brain injuries”. He is one of the few neurosurgeons in Greece and Cyprus with a European Board Certification. He is also certified as a specialist neurosurgeon both in the UK and Germany. He is a member of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) as well as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). Finally, he has attended several international congresses as an invited speaker and served as an instructor in many workshops.

 

On an academic level, Dr. Hadjigeorgiou is a Lecturer at the School of Medicine of the European University of Cyprus and the Coordinator of the Neuroanatomy and Neurosurgery. He has numerous publications in international scientific journals and oral presentation in international congresses. During his academic and professional career, he has received several grants (Aesculap, Codman) and awards (Red Cross Golden Cross, C. Antoniadis Award). He also sits on editorial boards of international medical journals and on other scientific committees.
